The August/September Art @ your library® kicks off with an opening reception on Friday, August 2, 2019 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Library’s historic second floor rotunda featuring artists Gary Fagan and Maureen McDermott.
Fagan is an award winning photographer who has been drawn to wildlife and nature. Fagan’s brings wildlife alive in his photos through various artist techniques and many hours to get that perfect shot of his subject. His over 30 years of experience allows him the natural ability to capture the moment, creating images that elicit an emotional response by the viewer.
McDermott is a multi-media artist who likes to work with fabric, fiber and nature. Her passion of using natural materials led her to eco printing, a technique to apply plant shapes such as flowers and leaves to fabric. Her artworks are 100% chemical free. She uses only natural fabrics such as silk, wool, linen and cotton. The end result are unique and original artworks that inspire the viewer to be drawn in closer to see the variety of elements used in her pieces.
The event is open to the public, and admission is free. The exhibit is through September 23, 2019.
