Event Details

The Carnegie-Stout Public Library invites the community to the Art @ your library ® opening reception on Friday, June 7, 2019 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Library’s historic second floor rotunda featuring artists Lyndal Anthony and Joan Overhouse.

Anthony is a woodturner who creates one of a kind ornamental art that reflects the beauty of the wood as it is spun on the lathe.  He has written about the art of wood turning and his articles are published in American Woodturner Magazine, and he teaches this art technique across the country.

Overhouse works in collaboration with Anthony as a pyrographer, an artist who decorates wood with burn marks, also known as wood burning.  She enhances Anthony’s pieces through her structured patterns including Zentangle, a form of intertwining of shapes and forms.  The end result features the depth and enhanced rich grain of the wood art.

Live demonstrations will be provided the artists.

The event is open to the public, and admission is free.  The exhibit is through July 22, 2019.  Art @ your library® continues the relationship between the Library and art by bringing unique, local exhibits to the Library.  In addition to this special exhibit, there will be a variety of artists featured during the year.
